Jonathan Falwell addresses the Supreme Court decision on Marriage

Pastor Jonathan Falwell addresses the Supreme Court ruling of June 26 that states must recognize and legalize same-sex marriages in every state in the United States.

Some of the verses Pastor Jonathan mentions are Genesis 2, Matthew 19:4-6, Mark 10:6-9, 1 Corinthians 7:2, I Thessalonians 4:3, Romans 1:26-27, Hebrews 13:4.

Pastor Jonathan states, “Any sexual activity outside of the marriage between one man and one woman is sin!” Continuing, “It is clear what the Bible defines as marriage and it is clear what the Bible defines as sin. The church, according to the teachings and commands of Christ, is to call sinners to repentance according to Luke 5:32. To help them to go and sin no more.”

God created marriage, not the state. So, God gets to define marriage, not the state!  Tweet Quote

Pastor Jonathan further said, “Should we stand against sin? Absolutely. But according to God’s Word in Ephesians 4:15, we stand against sin, but we preach the truth in love. We should also make sure we are speaking with gentleness and meekness, as according to 1 Peter 3:15. …preaching the truth in love…This is what loving the sinner, but hating the sin is all about.”

Continuing he states, “We must also hate our own sins as much as we hate the sins of others. We must begin to hold our own marriages in high regard…just as Christ intended…The only hope for the world is found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ….The church must be less about condemning others…and more about realizing that we are all sinners who have fallen short of the Glory of God….This church will always be a church and everyone is welcome here, red, yellow, black or white. Every color of the rainbow is welcome here… and anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

He predicts, “I am telling you, we are in a brave new world and there will come a day when someone comes to this church and asks us to perform a marriage that is not in God’s definition of marriage. And I will tell you again today; that we at Thomas Road Baptist Church, will never dishonor God’s Word. We will stand on the Word of God. And what will take place is that after that, we will be sued and they will come after us for taking that kind of stand. But Thomas Road Baptist Church will always be a church that will honor the law and the command of God more than the command of men.”

Pastor Jonathan concludes, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
